Forestry Endowment Fund

WV University Forestry Endowment Fund of the WVU Forestry Alumni Association was formed in 1970 by action of the Executive Committee of the WVU Forestry Alumni Association. Its sole purpose is to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the WVU Division of Forestry and Natural Resources. It is coordinated by a Trust Committee of three persons appointed by the Forestry Alumni Association and who serve at no compensation for time nor travel expenses. The irrevocable trust is held by the First Century Bank of Bluefield, WV. The Trust Committee has awarded over 60 scholarships since the first scholarship was awarded in 1989, and endeavor to keep the amount of the scholarship to near the amount of tuition and fees paid by the students. The Endowment Fund is divided into three separate funds, the General Fund and two special endowed funds made through major donations by the family. The General Fund is the repository of all general donations as well as a few dedicated funds established by friends and families. Scholarships are issued in the name of the individual being honored when interest earned is sufficient to cover the scholarship.

Donations can be made electronically through the fund’s website, wvuforestryendow.com.. The donations can be made to the General Fund or one of the established funds listed on the site. Donations by check or information about the fund or establishing a special scholarship can be obtained by contacting Ralph P. Glover, Jr. Secretary/Treasurer, 806 Daverton Road, Charleston, WV 25303-2311.
